Why it matters:
Last month, BlackRock launched a Spot Bitcoin Private Trust for their U.S. clients and are now launching an ETF to provide European customers a way into the blockchain industry
The iShares Blockchain Technology UCITS ETF (BLKC) includes 50 holdings, of which 35 are global companies; Coinbase, Block, Marathon Digital Holdings are amongst them
BlackRock ETF product strategist Omar Moufti says “We believe digital assets and blockchain technologies are going to become increasingly relevant for our clients”, as the firm has reportedly been looking to bring in some metaverse exposure for their clients

Brief introduction: Facebook rebranded its name to Meta last year, which was a reference made to the metaverse, to show the company’s all in determination to integrate blockchain technology and develop within the web3 space. Starting in March 2022, its VR product line also changed its social media and websites to Meta Quest. As the company works on the concept to combine social media with virtual and augmented reality, they have been introducing Web3 components to their existing apps.
Why it matters:
US Instagram and Facebook users are now able to connect their crypto wallets from Coinbase, Dapper Labs, MetaMask, Rainbow and Trust, enabling them to post their NFTs onto their social media accounts
When a user shares their digital collectible, they will automatically tag the creator and collector
There are no fees associated with ones activity but will allow creators to take more control over their work, how they interact with their fans and how they can monetise
